McMurdo G8 EPIRB Auto with Float Free Housing
Combine multiple frequency's for the most reliable McMurdo yet! An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is a safety device carried by a vessel to alert search and rescue services and allow them to quickly locate you in the event of an emergency. When activated it transmits a coded message on the 406 MHz distress frequency which is monitored by the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. The alert is then relayed via an earth station to the nearest Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC). With an EPIRB you can summon help wherever you are on the planet, subscription free, no matter how remote! The Pains Wessex Manoverboard MK9 Compact Lifebuoy Marker is normally mounted on a ship's bridge wing attached to a 4 kg lifebuoy. It is automatically or manually deployed to mark the position of a person in the water by day or night. Hammar H20E Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) for Epirb
The Hammar H20 is also used widely for Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB). 90% of the world's EPIRB manufacturers are using the Hammar H20 for the freefloat function. Should the vessel sink, the Hammar H20, which is activated by increasing water pressure, will automatically release the EPIRB. On reaching the surface the EPIRB starts to emit a signal of identification and position to a satellite. Instead of the rope sling a specially developed plastic bolt secures the radio beacon and will be cut when the unit is activated. Other methods of securing the beacon are also used, such as a rope or a strap.
